Spring in the Country

Spring has definitely sprung here in Central Illinois! It always amazes me the beauty that pops up every year after a long winter. God’s handiwork on full display!

My lilac bushes finally bloomed. Lilacs are my all time favorite flower! I love the smell, the gorgeous purple color (although I have some white ones too that are just as pretty, purple is still my favorite color), they’re just so beautiful! It always makes me so happy to when there‘s the faint smell of lilacs on the wind.

I went outside last night around sunset and snapped a few pictures of the blooms in our yard because I just couldn't resist. I love taking pictures of flowers and nature. Capturing the tiny details of flowers and such always amazes me. If I could be outside all day finding things to take pictures of and just enjoying nature I would be completely happy with that! Unfortunately that’s unrealistic but a girl can dream, right? 😉

The next thing I’m waiting for this spring is for the geese that visit our pond to have their babies! We always have 2 or 3 pairs (Couples? Sets? Not sure what the right term is lol) of geese that come back every year and have their babies so I’m excited to see how many goslings there will be this year!

I’m also excited to get some flowers to plant in my planters on our porch. I had marigolds in the planters last year, which I’ll probably do again. They’re pretty hardy, which I speak from experience about. Almost killed all of the marigolds I planted last summer when I forgot to water them for a couple days and I thought they were all goners. Somehow I got them to come back after a couple days of watering and they kept blooming the rest of the summer! Also, marigolds do not attract bees or deer and I don’t think my chickens ate them either. Now my petunias I had in another planter, that was a different story. My chickens destroyed them 🤦‍♀️
